You'll be responsible for reliability, compliance, and long-term direction of a regional public safety radio system.What You'll DoOversee and lead the City's public safety radio infrastructure, ensuring systems are stable, compliant, and prepared for future growth.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and supervise Radio Shop staff, including hiring, training, and performance managementDirect operation, maintenance, and expansion of P25 and trunked radio systemsServe as system manager for the Consolidated Communications Partnership (CCP)Manage FCC licensing and coordinate with City, County, State, and mutual aid partnersOversee vendor relationships, contracts, and system upgradesWhat You Bring | Education & ExperienceExperience with public safety radio systems (Police, Fire, 911 environments)Strong working knowledge of P25, trunked radio systems, RF principles, and FCC regulationsLeadership experience overseeing technical teams or system operationsBachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering Technology or related field, or equivalent experiencePreferred CertificationsFCC General Radiotelephone LicenseCETa CertificationMotorola / ASTRO system certificationsTechnical Skills & KnowledgeMotorola ASTRO / P25 systemsRF systems and infrastructureFCC licensing and compliancePublic safety communications systemsWhy Work for the City of Fort WayneThis role directly supports emergency response across the community.
