Role Description The Technical Design role at Dreamwaveapparel is a full-time, on-site position based in New York, NY. This role is responsible for translating design concepts into accurate technical packages, including detailed drawings, measurements, and construction specifications for apparel products. Day-to-day work includes creating and updating technical sketches, developing and revising tech packs, reviewing samples, and collaborating with design, production, and vendors to ensure fit and quality standards are met. The Technical Designer will troubleshoot construction issues, recommend improvements, and maintain consistent product specifications across styles and seasons. This role also involves tracking product changes, supporting quality control reviews, and contributing to the optimization of design-to-production workflows.

Qualifications

• Strong technical drawing skills, including the ability to create clear, detailed apparel construction sketches and specification diagrams.
• Proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools and digital design software commonly used in technical apparel design.
• Proficiency in Microsoft excel
• Foundational knowledge of garment construction, fit, fabrics and grading
• Knowledge of Browzwear, Optitex and PLM is a plus
• Make pattern and fit corrections and communicate overseas

• Effective communication skills to collaborate with design, production, and vendor teams and to document technical requirements clearly.
• Experience in apparel technical design, product development, or a related discipline; familiarity with pattern making and garment construction is advantageous.
• High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple styles and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Relevant degree or certification in Fashion Design, Technical Design, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
