This staff augmentation consulting role will primarily focus on performing quality assurance activities in the areas of welding, bolting, coatings, materials testing and other related areas required within the scope of the overall project.The candidate must possess significant experience in a Quality Assurance or Quality Control role in welding inspection, mechanical testing structural steel fabrication and application of coatings on metal and other substrates.The majority of the work performed will be in a structured office environment with a limited amount of assigned field work.ResponsibilitiesManage and review in-plant and on-site welding inspections performed by approved bridge fabricators and other approved contractors and suppliers.Knowledge and experience in AASHTO/AWS D1.1 and D1.5 Structural and Bridge Welding Codes.Knowledge and experience in various non-destructive testing methods including structural steel and bridge fabrication in accordance with applicable codes and standardsEvaluate fabrication, erection and coatings of steel structures and the associated documentation performed by others to support that the material meets contract requirements.Ensure compliance with quality control and quality assurance (QA/QC) proceduresReview and verify welding procedures, materials, and workmanshipConduct limited field inspections at fabrication shops and construction sitesEvaluate and inspect coating systems and surface preparationDocument inspection findings and prepare detailed reportsCoordinate with internal teams, contractors, and state agencies as neededQualificationsAWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification (or equivalent education and/or experience)Experience with structural steel, bridge fabrication, and erectionKnowledge of AWS D1.1 and/or D1.5 codesStrong understanding of metal properties and fabrication processesExperience with QA/QC inspection practicesBasic knowledge of steel coating systems including surface preparation and application.Preferred Qualifications (Not Mandatory)AMPP (formerly NACE) Coating Inspector Certification (CIP Level II or III)Experience working with state DOT or government agenciesAbility to travel to job sites as requiredBenefits*: TRC offers a competitive benefit package consisting of:Medical, dental, vision, and disability insurance.401k package that includes both traditional and Roth IRA options and Company match.Paid time off contingent upon full time or part time status and level of seniority (ranging from 15 to 25 days per year).All full-time employees enjoy a minimum of 8 Paid Holidays per year.TRC ensures that all employees, including those that work part-time, receive paid sick, family, and disability leave in accordance with the laws of their state of residence.*These benefits are applicable to US employees depending on their employment status (full time, part time, or temporary).
