Technical Architectural Intermediate – Retail

Location: New York, NY | Schedule: Full-time, hybrid (4 days in office + 1 remote day) | Compensation: $75K to $115K

Overview

An award-winning design firm specializing in retail interiors and branded environments is seeking an Intermediate Technical Designer / Project Professional to join its retail interiors division. This role leads drawing production and technical execution for concept-driven retail projects, coordinating closely with consultants and project managers through design and construction phases.

What you'll do

• Travel to perform architectural site surveys
• Produce detailed and accurate drawing sets across all phases (SD, DD, CD), with a focus on retail-specific detailing and coordination
• Coordinate closely with external consultants to ensure a complete and coordinated set of construction documents suitable for landlord approval, approval from authorities having jurisdiction, and accurate general contractor bidding
• Assist the Project Manager with coordination of construction documents for approval
• Attend weekly virtual OAC calls throughout construction
• Review shop drawings and submittals, and review/respond to general contractor RFIs
• Travel to perform construction site visits, which may include punch-list review at project completion

Required qualifications

• 3-8 years of professional experience
• Independent, creative thinker with the ability to work collaboratively, manage multiple tasks, and communicate effectively
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to excel in fast-paced, detail-rich project environments
• Expert proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD
• Working knowledge of Building Codes, ADA requirements, and industry standards

Preferred qualifications

• Retail-focused professional experience preferred
• Familiarity with Bluebeam and Adobe Design products is a plus
• A collaborator who values an approachable, advisory relationship with clients

Compensation and benefits

• Annual salary range: $75K to $115K
