Technical Accounting ManagerAs a Technical Accounting Manager, you'll play a pivotal role in delivering specialized accounting advisory services to our diverse and dynamic client base, including high-growth technology, biotechnology, professional services and consumer products companies. You'll serve as a trusted advisor, ensuring our clients receive expert guidance and outstanding service in complex accounting and financial reporting matters.We ideally seek a candidate located within the San Francisco Bay Area, in proximity to our CBIZ office, to support a flexible hybrid work model. However, all qualified applicants are encouraged to apply, as we remain open to remote work arrangements.Essential Functions and Primary DutiesWork directly with clients and their external audit firms to lead and manage technical accounting advisory projects, covering areas such as revenue recognition (ASC 606), equity transactions, debt arrangements, business combinations, lease accounting (ASC 842), financial reporting, and SEC reportingServe as the primary client contact, managing engagements, fostering strong relationships, and proactively addressing client needsDemonstrate a deep knowledge of the client's business and identify high-risk accounting areasOversee and manage project timelines, deliverables, and client communications to ensure successful outcomesGenerate written components of various reports/deliverables related to engagementsEfficiently research technical accounting topics as it pertains to the engagementTrain, mentor, and develop staff and senior staff members, promoting a culture of technical excellence, continuous learning, and professional growthIdentify and implement technology solutions and tools to streamline processes and enhance workflow efficiencyActively participate in thought leadership initiatives, contributing to internal knowledge sharing, training, and continuous improvement activitiesSupporting business development efforts through client relationships and networkingPreferred QualificationsCPA, CFA, CIA, CISA, or CISSP certification BA/BBA/BS in Accounting, Finance or business-related fieldU.S.

CPA certification5+ years related experienceSignificant technical accounting experience with a strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, including revenue recognition, equity transactions, debt structures, leases, business combinations, and SEC reportingIPO readiness or direct IPO experience highly desirablePrior industry or operational experience in technology and/or biotechnology sectors is strongly preferredPrior public accounting experience (Big 4 or large regional firms preferred)Demonstrated success in managing client service, building strong relationships, and balancing multiple concurrent engagementsTech-savvy with enthusiasm for experimenting with new technology tools and applications to optimize accounting processes and workflowsExperience identifying opportunities to integrate emerging technologies and AI tools into client service delivery and internal processesFamiliarity with workflow automation solutions (e.g., Alteryx, Power Automate, UiPath) and collaboration platforms is a plusKnowledge of IFRS standardsExperience with technology systems / applications, such as data analytic tools or workflow automation tools.Proficiency in MS office products, including Excel, Word and PowerPointStrong verbal and written communication skillsMinimum QualificationsBachelor's degree required5 years of experience in related field3 years of supervisory experienceMust have and preserve required licensesAbility to manage all aspects of client engagementsDemonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing throughout all levels of organization, both internally and externallyProficient use of applicable technologyMust be able to travel based on client and business needs
