The firm is accepting applications for our 2027 Summer Technical Advisor Intern Program. Technical Advisors at the firm collaborate with attorneys to tackle complex technical challenges, develop patent strategies, conduct prior art searches, and prepare patent applications. As a summer intern, you will spend 10 weeks gaining hands-on experience, working on tasks such as drafting patent applications, conducting technical research, and assisting with freedom-to-operate analyses. You’ll work closely with partner-mentors and have the opportunity to engage in social events with colleagues. The program runs from May 17, 2027 to July 23. 2027.

Job Requirements

• An engineering or scientific background such as physics, applied physics, quantum informational science, computer engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, biology, biochemistry, chemistry, or similar
• Life sciences candidates should have an advanced degree (Master's or Ph.D.) or industry experience
• Candidates should be eligible to take the USPTO's Patent Exam
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Innovative thinking and creative problem-solving skills

Location: Chicago, IL

Compensation: The anticipated base salary for this position is $2,291.67 per week
