Job Summary:
Assists the surgical team in preparing and maintaining a sterile environment for surgical procedures in the operating room. Ensures all supplies and instruments are properly set up and accounted for to facilitate smooth surgical operations.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare for each surgical case by verifying and assembling necessary supplies and equipment.
- Maintain a sterile field throughout procedures by following aseptic techniques.
- Pass instruments, supplies, and medications accurately to surgeons during surgeries.
- Collect, count, and document surgical instruments, sponges, needles, and blades with the RN.
- Clean and maintain surgical equipment and the operating room environment.
- Transport patients and assist with clinical and clerical duties as needed.
- High School diploma or GED required; Associate's/Technical Degree preferred.
- Minimum of two years recent experience in surgical environments.
- Current BLS certification and valid surgical technician credential required.
- Previous experience with operating room procedures and sterile techniques preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow strict protocol.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
