Surgical Technician
Assists the surgical team in preparing and supporting surgical procedures in the operating room. Ensures a sterile environment, handles instruments, supplies, and medications, and maintains equipment to facilitate smooth surgical operations.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare for surgical cases by checking supplies and equipment for completeness and readiness.
- Assemble and set up sterile fields and operative instrumentation to ensure efficient access during procedures.
- Maintain accurate inventory of supplies and equipment, and ensure proper sterilization and cleanliness.
- Assist in handling instruments, supplies, and medications during surgeries, passing them to surgeons as needed.
- Perform proper counts of instruments, sponges, needles, and blades in partnership with the RN, adhering to safety standards.
- Transport patients and assist with housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and organized surgical environment.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required; associate's/technical degree preferred.
- Certified Surgery Technician (CST) or Tech in Surgery TS-C (NCCT) certification required.
- Previous scrub technician and operating room experience preferred.
- CPR/BLS certification from an approved vendor required; CNA certification preferred.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and aseptic technique essential.
