Job Summary:
The OR CST will assist in a variety of surgical procedures within a Level I Trauma Center, supporting multiple specialties including Orthopedics, Neuro, ENT, Transplant, and Robotics. The role requires a skilled professional capable of working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment to ensure surgical excellence and patient safety.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare surgical instruments and supplies to ensure readiness for diverse procedures.
- Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments, sutures, and other sterile supplies.
- Maintain a sterile environment and adhere to infection control protocols throughout procedures.
- Collaborate with nursing and surgical teams to ensure smooth operative workflows.
- Document procedural details accurately and efficiently in the electronic medical record.
- Float within the scope to support various unit needs and cover different surgical specialties as required.
- Hold a current NBSTSA certification; NCCT is not accepted.
- Possess a minimum of 2 years of OR CST experience in a surgical setting.
- Demonstrate expertise with complex cases including neuro (spines, crani), ENT (flaps), and robotic surgeries (DaVinci Xi).
- Valid BLS certification; radiation badge required if applicable.
- Be willing to work 3x12 day shifts with holiday and weekend rotation, and up to 4 call shifts per 4 weeks.
- Hold or be eligible for South Carolina RN license with proof of application.
