Surgical Technologist
The Surgical Technologist is responsible for preparing the operating room and assisting during surgical procedures to ensure a sterile environment and patient safety. Working under the supervision of surgeons and R.N.s, they facilitate seamless surgical operations through technical expertise and effective communication.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and arrange surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment according to procedure requirements.
- Recognize and interpret preference cards to procure necessary instruments and supplies accurately.
- Communicate effectively with OR staff and sterile processing teams to coordinate instrumentation throughout the day.
- Review daily surgical schedules with charge nurses and sterile processing staff to identify potential delays or issues.
- Manage core communication systems, delegate duties, and coordinate breaks and coverage.
- Serve as a resource for supply and instrumentation procurement for scheduled and emergency surgeries.
Qualifications:
- Hold a High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Graduate from an accredited Surgical Technologist program or equivalent military training.
- Obtain and maintain BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
- Demonstrate proficiency in surgical techniques, human anatomy, and use of surgical tools.
- Possess strong communication and coordination skills.
