Nuclear Medicine Technologist

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist is responsible for performing diagnostic imaging procedures using radioactive materials to help physicians diagnose and treat medical conditions. They ensure high-quality images are obtained safely and efficiently, following established protocols and safety standards.

Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain all nuclear medicine imaging equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Obtain patient histories, explain procedures, and address patient concerns to ensure comfort and compliance.
  • Prepare and administer radioactive isotopes and medications within the scope of practice under licensed practitioners.
  • Perform diagnostic studies, including measuring and preparing radioactive concentrations for imaging.
  • Conduct quality assurance and radiation safety practices to minimize exposure to patients, staff, and self.
  • Document all procedures, maintain logs, records, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
Qualifications
  • Graduate from an AMA-accredited school of nuclear medicine.
  • Registered in Nuclear Medicine with ARRT or NMTCB certification.
  • Maintain current BLS certification.
  • Possess a valid Michigan license for nurses or appropriate licensure for technologists.
  • Proven experience operating nuclear imaging equipment and performing diagnostic studies.
  • Strong understanding of radiation safety protocols and regulatory compliance.
