Technical Lead / Full Stack EngineerWe're looking for a Technical Lead / Full Stack Engineer to join Novir—someone who can own our technology end-to-end. This is not a pure management role, it is a take the bull by the horns, hands-on builder. You'll be the architect, the builder, and the force multiplier—designing scalable systems while staying close to the code and shipping quickly using modern development tools, including AI/agentic workflows.You'll partner directly with leadership to translate business needs into technical solutions, define our architecture, and accelerate development velocity without sacrificing quality.What You'll Do:Own the technical vision and architecture across all Novir platforms, including core applications, integrations, and infrastructureAct as a player-coach: write production code while guiding and leveling up other engineers and contributorsLeverage AI/agentic development tools to dramatically improve speed, efficiency, and code qualityDesign and build scalable, secure APIs and systems that integrate with internal tools and third-party platformsPartner closely with product, operations, and leadership to prioritize and execute against the roadmapTranslate ambiguous business needs into clean, pragmatic technical solutionsLead development of internal tools including tracking systems, inventory systems, and operational platformsEstablish best practices across code quality, deployment, CI/CD, and system reliabilityEvaluate and implement new technologies that create leverage and long-term advantagesTechnical Stack & Capabilities:Strong proficiency in JavaScript / TypeScript across the stackExperience with Node.js and modern frontend frameworks (React preferred)Solid understanding of cloud infrastructure (AWS – EC2, RDS, etc.)Experience with Docker, distributed systems, and backend services (Redis, nginx, etc.)Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub, CircleCI, CodeDeploy)Strong experience designing and building APIs and system integrationsComfort working across the full stack: frontend, backend, and infrastructureWhat We're Really Looking For:A builder's mindset—someone who ships, iterates, and takes ownershipAbility to operate as both architect and hands-on engineerExperience with patient tracking systems, EMRs/EHRs, lab integrations (HL7, FHIR, SFTP, API), and inventory logisticsExperience using (or strong interest in using) AI-assisted / agentic coding tools to accelerate developmentStrong product intuition and ability to work directly with stakeholders and customersComfort operating in an ambiguous, fast-moving startup environmentTrack record of building and scaling systems from the ground upExperience:6+ years of engineering experience, with increasing ownership over systems and architecturePrior experience in a lead, staff, or founding engineer role strongly preferredExperience working closely with business stakeholders to define and deliver custom solutionsWho You Are:You're an Innovator - You enjoy working with new technologies ranging from the frontend to backend, and are particularly passionate and an expert in multiple stacksYou're A Problem Solver - You have strong experience with various technologies, and know how to pick the right tool for any jobYou're a Team Player - You love to collaborate closely with the team to brainstorm ideas, gather requirements, and review and improve codeYou're Curious - You are naturally curious and have an interest in learning new things.Perks of Working @ Novir:Competitive total compensation offeringsGenerous paid time off policyMedical, dental and vision insurance, some of which is covered by the companyCompany provided Disability and Life InsuranceA friendly office atmosphere in our office space in the heart of Milwaukee's Third WardOpportunity to build something incredible while being surrounded by intelligent, hardworking and motivated coworkersNovir is a fast-growing startup with a work hard, play hard attitude.
