Job Summary:
Provide advanced sterile surgical assistance in a high-acuity operating room specializing in orthopedic, neuro, and trauma procedures. Ensure comprehensive support during complex surgeries, adhering to strict safety and documentation standards.
Responsibilities:
- Assist surgeons with sterile techniques and surgical procedures, including craniotomies, spine fusions, liver resections, Whipple procedures, and MAKO total joint surgeries.
- Prepare and maintain OR equipment, ensuring proper functionality and adherence to safety protocols.
- Document all surgical activities accurately in the Meditech system, maintaining precise records of procedures performed.
- Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes, following hospital guidelines and policies.
- Support team members and adapt to scheduled shifts, including rotating call during weeknights and weekends.
- Maintain professional certifications and stay current with industry standards and technological advancements.
- Valid Licensed First Assist (FA) certification from the Board of Medicine in Virginia.
- Proven experience in orthopedic, neuro, and trauma surgeries, with proficiency in DaVinci systems.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience working in a surgical environment as a CST or First Assist.
- Demonstrated ability to perform complex procedures such as craniotomies, spine fusions, and liver resections.
- Strong attention to detail, documentation skills, and adherence to strict safety protocols.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced, high-pressure setting.
