NATURE AND SCOPE OF JOB:
The Teaching Assistant works under the general supervision of a certified teacher to support the academic, behavioral, and social-emotional development of students. This role involves providing one-on-one and small-group instructional support, preparing and organizing classroom materials, and assisting in classroom management. In addition to instructional support, the Teaching Assistant helps monitor student progress, addresses behavior concerns, and performs clerical tasks such as attendance tracking, and recordkeeping, contributing to a well-functioning and inclusive classroom environment.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must hold a valid New York State Teaching Assistant certificate or classroom teaching certificate
- 10 month position - 4 year probationary period
The Teaching Assistant will:
- Collaborate with the teacher to support student learning
- Lead or assist with small-group work, remediation, and enrichment
- Provide targeted support to students with special education needs
- Help maintain a welcoming and affirming classroom environment
- Observe students and provide feedback to teachers on academic or behavioral progress
- Participate in IEP meetings, trainings, and professional development (whenever possible)
- Operate classroom technology and assist with instructional materials preparation
- Performance will be evaluated annually by building administration.
