Teaching Assistant
Under the general supervision of a certified classroom teacher, the Teaching Assistant provides instructional and behavioral support to students to enhance their academic growth and social-emotional development. The successful candidate will work collaboratively within the educational team to reinforce lessons, assist with classroom management, and implement individualized learning plans in accordance with New York State Department of Education regulations and district policies.
Terms of employment include a full-time, 10-month, tenure track assignment with a competitive salary and a full complement of health benefits.
Qualifications, experience, and competencies include a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid New York State Teaching Assistant Certificate, and completion of state-mandated workshops and NYS Education Department fingerprinting.
Duties and responsibilities involve basic knowledge of core subject areas, proactive classroom management, and the ability to deliver specialized testing accommodations and behavior plans.
