Teaching Assistant – Special Education & Behavioral Support
Full-Time | Monday–Friday | Day Shift
Position Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and reliable Teaching Assistant to support students in a therapeutic educational setting. Working alongside the classroom teacher, you will assist with instruction, behavior support, classroom activities, and student supervision to help children succeed academically, socially, and emotionally.
Responsibilities

Assist with classroom instruction and daily learning activities.

Support implementation of individualized educational and behavioral plans.

Provide supervision and promote a safe, structured learning environment.

Help maintain student records and classroom organization.

Use positive behavior support and crisis prevention techniques when needed.

Communicate student progress and concerns with teachers and treatment team members.

Serve as a positive role model for students.
Qualifications
Required:
-
High school diploma or equivalent
-
Ability to obtain and maintain Maine State Paraprofessional Certification

Basic computer skills
-
Valid driver's license
Preferred:
-
90+ college credits and/or Education Technician Certification through the Maine Department of Education

Experience working with children or adolescents, especially those with behavioral or emotional challenges

Previous educational or administrative support experience
