Teacher Aid - Child Care Center
The Assistant Teacher supports the Lead Teacher in providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for children, typically ranging from infants through preschool age. This role assists with daily classroom activities, care routines, and supervision while promoting children's overall development and well-being.
Key Responsibilities
Classroom Support
- Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing age-appropriate activities
- Support a positive, engaging classroom environment that encourages learning through play
- Help prepare materials and set up activities for daily instruction
- Supervise children during classroom activities, outdoor play, and transitions
- Assist with daily care routines including feeding, diapering, toileting, and hygiene practices
- Ensure children are always safe, properly supervised, and accounted for
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary classroom environment
- Follow all health and safety procedures, including proper sanitation and hygiene protocols
- Ensure compliance with state licensing regulations and center policies
- Foster positive relationships with children by modeling appropriate behavior and providing emotional support
- Encourage social development through guidance, redirection, and positive reinforcement
- Build respectful and professional relationships with families
- Support open communication with parents and guardians by sharing daily updates and information
- Assist in addressing parent questions or concerns as directed by the Lead Teacher or administration
- Work collaboratively with the Lead Teacher and other staff members to ensure smooth classroom operations
- Be flexible and assist in other classrooms or duties as needed
- Demonstrate reliability, patience, and a genuine passion for working with children
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
- Follow direction while also taking initiative when appropriate
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development
