Tax Provision Manager

Overview

The Tax Provision Manager role is a great opportunity for anyone passionate about tax and is looking to step into a highly visible role with sophisticated clients. The Tax Provision Manager will join LBMC's expansive Business Tax team, where they will review and manage tax engagements for clients and provide internal mentorship to Staff and Senior Accountants. Managers act as technical advisors, providing guidance or research assistance on moderate to complex tax questions and effectively supervise multiple engagements. High-performing candidates have a path for advancement to Senior Manager and/or Shareholder roles within LBMC.

Responsibilities

• Direct large-scale tax consulting engagements for the Business Tax group. Oversee ad hoc tax planning, research, and consulting projects and engagements.
• Set appointments with clients and assemble information to prepare or arrange for the preparation of federal, state, and local returns.
• Maintain productive working relationships with client personnel and manage expectations of service (reports, schedules, etc.).
• Determine fees to be charged for an engagement with approval from the client partner.
• Provide mentorship opportunities to Staff and Senior Accountants and create learning opportunities during client engagements.
• Build relationships with key stakeholders at client organizations to foster a long-term partnership between the LBMC Tax Department and external clients; identify potential expansion opportunities to other LBMC service lines as appropriate.
• Adhere to LBMC’s processes and procedures, including privacy and client confidentiality; follow applicable professional conduct rules and standards (AICPA, state societies, and regulatory bodies).

Ideal Candidate Profile

• Bachelor's Degree and Licensed CPA
• Strong ASC 740 experience
• 4+ years of progressive tax experience
• 2+ years leading and training Staff and Senior Accountants in public accounting
