Withum’s Tax Services Group is a team of tax specialists dedicated to ensuring accurate tax reporting and minimizing tax liabilities through strategic planning and efficient execution. The Tax Principal role, based in Houston, TX, leads market strategy, service delivery, and team growth.
Responsibilities
- Achieve booked revenue of up to a predetermined annual amount.
- Open, track, and close opportunities in CRM, providing closed‑won reports to the Director of Markets.
- Collaborate with geographic tax partners to position the firm for success.
- Identify and lead cross‑functional teams to pursue all aspects of key tax relationships.
- Drive expansion and penetration of priority tax clients and targets.
- Provide routine insight into the tax landscape and devise competitive differentiated strategies and services.
- Attract, hire, and retain top business‑development talent and train them on Withum services and positioning.
- Create and deploy common processes to ensure the tax team is positioned for success.
- Complete mid‑year and annual reviews, establishing accountability and responsibility.
- Participate in national and regional tax service line leadership, offering perspective and commentary on opportunities and challenges.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, CPA license, JD, or Master’s in Science in Taxation.
- Minimum 15+ years of professional services sales experience.
- Minimum 8 years of industry experience.
- Demonstrated strategic leadership and market opportunity definition.
- Experience in process creation, modification, and team training.
- Strong verbal and written communication, and presentation skills.
- Ability to organize and lead meetings with senior firm executives.
- Project management skills, including time management, multi‑tasking, and deadline adherence.
- Team orientation and a proven contribution to team productivity.
- Formal sales process deployment experience, including usage and training.
