Role Description

The Tax Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Shelton, CT. This role is responsible for managing and reviewing individual, corporate, partnership, and other tax returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable tax laws and regulations. The Tax Manager will oversee tax planning engagements, identify tax savings opportunities, and advise clients on complex tax matters. Day-to-day tasks include supervising and mentoring tax staff, coordinating workflows and deadlines, and collaborating with other team members to deliver high‑quality client service. The Tax Manager will also research tax issues, stay current on legislative changes, assist with IRS and state tax notices, and contribute to the development and refinement of firm tax processes and best practices.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess strong skills in Tax Planning and Tax Preparation to support client advisory and accurate return preparation.
  • Candidates should possess expertise in Tax Compliance and Tax Law to ensure filings meet federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Candidates should possess a broad understanding of Tax concepts to analyze complex situations and communicate implications to clients.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license or eligibility strongly preferred; degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
  • Several years of progressive public accounting tax experience, including supervisory responsibilities and direct client interaction.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and projects.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and a commitment to ethical, client‑focused service.
  • Proficiency with tax preparation software and Microsoft Office; experience with workflow and document management systems is beneficial.
