About the Opportunity

Our client is a fast-growing, well-established public accounting firm with a strong reputation for delivering high-touch advisory and tax services to individuals and businesses. Known for its collaborative culture and commitment to client relationships, the firm is seeking an experienced Tax Manager to join its leadership team during an exciting period of growth. This is an excellent opportunity for a tax professional who enjoys mentoring staff, reviewing complex returns, building client relationships, and contributing to the continued expansion of a thriving CPA practice. The firm anticipates adding additional tax leadership before year-end and offers significant flexibility regarding workload and work arrangements.

Position Overview

The Tax Manager will be responsible for reviewing and managing a variety of tax engagements while providing technical guidance and support to staff. This role is heavily focused on review work and client advisory services, making it ideal for someone who enjoys leveraging their expertise to deliver high-quality results and identify tax planning opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review corporate, partnership, and individual tax returns
  • Provide tax planning and advisory services to clients
  • Identify tax implications, opportunities, and potential risks
  • Mentor and develop junior tax professionals
  • Collaborate with firm leadership on client service initiatives
  • Research complex tax issues and provide technical guidance
  • Ensure compliance with applicable tax regulations and deadlines
  • Support firm growth and client relationship management efforts

Qualifications

  • CPA or Enrolled Agent (EA) required
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required; Master's degree preferred
  • 6+ years of current public accounting tax experience
  • Strong experience preparing and reviewing:
    • Corporate tax returns
    • Partnership tax returns
    • Individual tax returns
  • Trust and estate tax experience is a plus
  • Experience utilizing tax preparation and research software
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks or similar accounting platforms
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication and client-facing abilities
  • Team-oriented, ethical, and committed to delivering exceptional client service

Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco/Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual's skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses and can participate in medical, dental, and vision benefits as well as the company's 401(k) retirement plan.
