A partner firm of Elevate located in Raleigh, North Carolina is seeking an experienced Tax Manager/Director with a focus on corporate/business entity returns . This role will work alongside the Tax Partner to lead and grow the practice. This is a high-impact leadership role offering the opportunity to shape the future of the firm's tax strategy, client service, and team development. The ideal candidate has a strong background in corporate entity taxation in addition to tax consulting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and expand the corporate tax practice for the Raleigh partner firm, with responsibility for growth, client service, and team leadership.
  • Deliver high-quality tax advisory and compliance services to C-Corporations, private equity-backed portfolio companies, and middle-market corporate clients.
  • Review complex corporate tax provisions (ASC 740), consolidated returns, and multi-entity structures.
  • Oversee preparation and review of Forms 1120, state and local income/franchise tax filings, and related workpapers.
  • Advise clients on entity structuring, M&A tax due diligence, corporate reorganizations, and transaction-related tax planning.
  • Respond to client inquiries on compliance matters including income tax, franchise tax, sales/use tax, and multi-state nexus issues.
  • Conduct technical tax research on corporate tax issues, including federal tax reform impacts and state conformity questions.
  • Develop budgets and pricing, select staff, assign workloads, and prepare management reports.
  • Drive practice growth through expansion of corporate advisory services and proactive business development with private equity sponsors, investment bankers, and corporate CFOs.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor on complex corporate tax structuring and transaction planning.
  • Recruit, mentor, and inspire a high-performing corporate tax team, fostering a collaborative, growth-focused culture.
  • Collaborate with Elevate's leadership team and shared services to leverage tax technology, automation, and best practices across the platform.

Qualifications

  • Active CPA license required.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in corporate taxation, ideally with a Big 4, large national, or regional firm.
  • Deep technical expertise in ASC 740 tax provision, corporate consolidated returns, and multi-state corporate compliance.
  • Experience with M&A tax due diligence, entity structuring, and transaction advisory work.
  • Demonstrated success leading corporate client engagements and growing a practice.
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop teams.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to thrive in a growth-oriented environment.
