Founded in 2010, our partners collectively hold more than 140 years of financial management experience across industries including real estate, energy, family office, restaurant, medical services, transportation, tech/SaaS, and manufacturing.
We deliver senior-level tax and advisory work built on best-in-class process and technology. As our practice continues to grow, we are expanding our tax team and looking for a technically strong professional who shares our interest in building better, more scalable ways of working.
ROLE SUMMARY
Reporting to the firm's tax leadership, the Tax Manager owns the day-to-day execution and review of tax engagements. You will prepare and review returns across a range of entity types, manage a portfolio of client relationships, coach staff, and put the firm's technology and processes to work on live engagements. This role suits a technically strong practitioner ready to take ownership of quality and client outcomes.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Technical Tax
- Review federal and multi-state returns for pass-through entities, C-corporations, individuals, and trusts, ensuring accuracy and compliance. Some preparation of returns, but limited.
- Review and research complex tax matters and research questions.
- Prepare responses to routine IRS and state tax notices and support the firm on audits and correspondence.
- Support client planning — entity considerations, estimated payments, and tax-efficient strategies — in coordination with senior staff.
- Stay current on legislative and regulatory changes relevant to your engagements.
Process Improvement & Technology
- Use the firm's tax technology platforms fully and help identify practical workflow improvements.
- Follow and help refine standardized procedures, checklists, and quality-control protocols.
- Contribute to the evaluation of new tools, including AI-assisted tax and automation capabilities.
Team Development & Client Management
- Support and coach staff, providing timely feedback and on-the-job development.
- Manage a portfolio of client relationships as a reliable day-to-day point of contact.
- Collaborate with the accounting services and advisory teams on multi-service engagements.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- 5+ years of public accounting experience in tax, including review and supervisory responsibility.
- Solid technical proficiency in federal and multi-state income tax across pass-through entities, corporations, and individuals.
- Experience managing multiple engagements and deadlines simultaneously.
- Comfort with tax technology and a willingness to help improve workflows.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred
- CPA or EA, or CPA-eligible/in-progress with strong experience.
- Experience with Lacerte or a similar enterprise tax platform.
- Experience with Canopy or similar practice management software.
- Exposure to AI-driven tax tools, robotic process automation (RPA), or data analytics in a tax context.
- Industry specialization in oil & gas, real estate, or healthcare — sectors prominent in the Oklahoma market.
