Position Snapshot

Position Summary
The Tax Manager will serve as the firm's primary technical review and quality control resource. This individual will review tax returns prepared by staff, provide guidance on technical matters, mentor developing tax professionals, and help maintain the high standards our clients expect.
The ideal candidate brings strong tax expertise, excellent judgment, and a genuine passion for helping others grow. As the firm continues to expand, this role will be instrumental in supporting operational excellence, staff development, and client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and sign off on tax returns prepared by staff tax preparers
- Ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance across all engagements
- Provide technical guidance and support to tax preparers
- Mentor and coach developing tax professionals
- Identify and resolve complex tax issues
- Serve as a technical resource for client-related tax questions
- Maintain and strengthen quality control standards
- Recommend process improvements and workflow enhancements
- Collaborate with firm leadership on operational and tax-related initiatives
- Support the development of scalable systems and review procedures as the firm grows
Types of Returns Reviewed
The majority of returns reviewed will include:
- Form 1040 Individual Income Tax Returns
- Form 1120-S S Corporation Returns
- Form 1065 Partnership Returns
Additional exposure may include:
- Trust Returns
- C Corporation Returns
Qualifications
Required
- Active CPA or Enrolled Agent (EA) designation
- 5+ years of tax preparation and review experience
- Strong knowledge of:
- Individual Taxation (1040)
- S Corporations (1120-S)
- Partnerships (1065)
- Experience reviewing and approving tax returns prepared by others
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to coach and mentor developing professionals
Preferred
- Previous supervisory or management experience
- Experience mentoring junior accountants or tax preparers
- Ability to efficiently review a high volume of returns while maintaining quality
- Experience improving workflows and operational processes
- Experience supporting a growing or entrepreneurial firm
