This is a hybrid Tax Manager opportunity based in Houston, with 2 days per week in the office and the remainder remote. You'll have the flexibility to work independently while still collaborating with a strong local team.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and review complex tax returns for individuals, partnerships, S corporations, C corporations, trusts, estates, and privately held businesses.
  • Lead tax planning and compliance engagements for a diverse client base.
  • Serve as a key client contact and provide proactive tax advisory support.
  • Manage engagement workflow, budgets, deadlines, and client expectations.
  • Supervise and mentor Tax Seniors, Supervisors, and Associates.
  • Review workpapers, returns, and supporting documentation for technical accuracy.
  • Research federal and state tax issues and communicate recommendations clearly.
  • Identify planning opportunities for businesses, owners, and high-net-worth individuals.
  • Collaborate with partners on complex engagements, client service, and firm growth initiatives.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
  • 5+ years of public accounting tax experience.
  • Experience managing engagements and reviewing complex tax returns.
  • CPA or EA strongly preferred.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of tax compliance and planning for individuals and businesses.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and client service skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and team members.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
  • Comfortable working in a hybrid environment.
  • Reliable, detail-oriented, and committed to high-quality client service.

Preferred Credentials:

  • Master's in Tax preferred.
  • CPA preferred.
  • Experience with UltraTax, CCH, RIA Checkpoint, QuickBooks, MS Excel, Word, and practice management software preferred.
