Position Overview: Tax Manager

We are seeking a seasoned Tax Manager to lead tax engagements and enhance client relationships, playing a pivotal role in the growth of our New Jersey practice.

This opportunity is ideal for a technically adept professional from a public accounting background who thrives on managing client deliverables, mentoring emerging talent, and evolving as a leader within a dynamic organization.

The Tax Manager will collaborate closely with firm leadership while delivering comprehensive tax and advisory services to closely held businesses, partnerships, corporations, and high‑net‑worth individual clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and review tax engagements for businesses, partnerships, corporations, and individuals, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
  • Ensure timely completion of tax deliverables, including preparation and review of tax returns, projections, workpapers, and associated documentation.
  • Provide tax planning and advisory services focused on the needs of closely held entities and affluent individuals.
  • Cultivate and maintain robust client relationships by leveraging responsiveness and deep technical knowledge.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop senior and staff accountants, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
  • Coordinate engagement workflows, manage budgets, set deadlines, and handle scheduling effectively.
  • Conduct thorough research and resolve complex federal, state, and multistate tax issues.
  • Collaborate with firm leadership to refine processes and enhance client service delivery.
  • Champion the implementation of technological solutions and best practices to optimize tax engagements.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 4 years of progressive tax experience in a public accounting firm.
  • Active CPA license or in the process of obtaining CPA certification.
  • Proven expertise in preparing and reviewing a range of tax returns for businesses, partnerships, corporations, and individuals.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. federal and state tax compliance regulations.
  • Experience in supervising and reviewing the work of senior and staff accountants.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tax engagements along with associated deadlines and deliverables.
  • Proficient in tax and accounting software utilized within a public accounting context.
  • Must reside within commuting distance of Ramsey, New Jersey, and be available to work full-time in the office.
