Our client, a professional services firm, is seeking an experienced Tax Manager to join its growing team.

Location

Oakland, CA. This is a hybrid position, requiring 3 days/week in the office.

Job Description

This role offers the opportunity to lead complex client engagements, provide strategic tax guidance, mentor developing professionals, and serve as a trusted advisor to a diverse portfolio of clients. The ideal candidate will enjoy working in a collaborative environment with significant client interaction and leadership responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee tax engagements for business and individual clients.
• Review tax filings, research technical matters, and provide planning and advisory support.
• Develop practical solutions to tax-related issues and communicate recommendations to clients and internal stakeholders.
• Manage client relationships, engagement timelines, and overall service delivery.
• Mentor and develop team members while reviewing work for quality and accuracy.
• Support process improvements and contribute to the continued growth of the practice.

Requirements

• 7+ years of tax experience within public accounting or a professional services environment.
• Strong background in tax compliance, research, planning, and advisory services.
• Proven ability to manage client engagements and balance multiple priorities.
• Excellent leadership, communication, analytical, and relationship‑management skills.
• CPA, EA, or comparable tax credential preferred.
