Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities
- Make decisions on staffing issues by working with Partners and Principals to find solutions for workload balancing and client due dates
- Serve as an initial point of contact with tax staff on issues such as workload/time management, scheduling, and professional development within the firm
- Act as a liaison for Tax Partners to mediate conflicts and resolve resource needs that develop
- Oversee and manage annual CPE requirements for the tax department, including suggestions for courses and training
- Assist with the development and publication of the firm's client tax updates and memos
- Oversee and manage the firm's bookkeeping staff
- Oversee and manage the firm's administrative tax staff (collaters and interns)
- Assist with the recruitment of professional tax staff, bookkeeping staff, and administrative tax staff
- Assist with performance reviews of professional tax staff, bookkeeping staff and administrative tax staff
- Develop, administer and/or participate in orientation programs for incoming hires
- Manage and oversee the firm's tax workflow processes on an ongoing basis, including changes such as new clients, dissolved entities and administrative changes
- Manage and oversee the client e-signature and e-filing processes
- Manage and maintain the firm's paperless document management system on an ongoing basis
- Other duties and responsibilities related to the administration of the tax department, as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and/or Masters of Science in Taxation
- At least 5 years of experience working as a professional staff member in the tax department of a mid-sized or larger CPA firm.
- CPA license preferred
