Tax Manager

A well-established CPA firm providing tax, audit, and advisory services to closely held businesses, high-net-worth individuals, and nonprofit organizations seeks a Tax Manager in Lincolnshire, IL. Full-Time, in-office, Monday-Friday. Compensation: $120,000-$150,000 base (depending on experience), plus additional earning potential tied to client responsibility.

Position Summary:

The Tax Manager plays a critical leadership role within the firm's tax practice — reviewing complex returns, conducting tax research, and managing client relationships. Oversees tax engagements from start to finish while mentoring junior staff and working closely with firm leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review complex federal and multi-state tax returns, including 1040, 1120, 1120-S, 1065, and 1041
• Perform advanced tax research and planning for closely held businesses, high-net-worth individuals, trusts, and partnerships
• Manage and maintain strong, long-term client relationships
• Oversee tax engagements, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery
• Supervise, mentor, and review work prepared by junior tax professionals
• Collaborate with partners on complex tax matters and client strategies
• Participate in client meetings and provide technical guidance as needed

Qualifications & Requirements:

• 6-10+ years of public accounting tax experience
• Active CPA license required
• Strong review experience across all major return types
• Demonstrated strength in tax research and planning
• Experience with federal and multi-state taxation
• Background working with closely held businesses and HNW clients
• Stable employment history; minimal job changes preferred
• Master's in Taxation considered a plus
