Through proactive advisory beyond compliance, innovative solutions that create clarity and confidence, and integrated expertise across tax, wealth management, and business financial planning and analysis, we operate as one firm focused on our clients’ total financial picture.

If you want to belong to a highly collaborative, growth-minded firm that offers a hybrid work environment, unlimited PTO, a competitive compensation package, exposure to a variety of business lines, and a healthy team culture, Delta Wealth Advisors will be a great fit for you!

Here’s a little more about the role we’re hiring for:

We are seeking an experienced, relationship-oriented, and growth-minded tax professional to join our Tax team. This opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys leading the delivery of tax compliance and advisory services for business and individual clients while using technical expertise, professional judgment, and strong communication to help clients make informed decisions.

As tax and accounting continue to evolve, we believe efficiency gains from technology will only increase the value of judgment, leadership, communication, and trusted client relationships. If you enjoy leading client relationships, developing others, improving how work gets done, and translating complex tax matters into clear, proactive advice, you may be an excellent fit for this role.

As the Lead Advisor I – Tax (Tax Manager), we are counting on you to be accountable for the complete, accurate, and timely delivery of recurring tax compliance and planning services for an assigned portfolio of business and individual clients. This role directs the work of the team members supporting each client, performs final tax review within delegated authority, owns the client relationship, and translates technically sound tax work into useful planning guidance and advice.

You will enjoy this type of work if you get, want, and have the capacity to lead, manage, and be accountable for:

  • Client Portfolio Accountability: Own the overall service experience, recurring deliverables, deadlines, expectations, and outcomes for an assigned portfolio of business and individual clients. Ensure each engagement is appropriately scoped, staffed, and moving forward throughout the compliance and planning cycle.
  • Final Technical Review, Sign-Off & Tax Quality: Complete final technical review of individual, corporate, partnership, fiduciary, and nonprofit tax returns, extensions, estimated tax calculations, workpapers, planning deliverables, and related correspondence for the assigned client portfolio. Confirm that preparation and first-level review requirements are complete, direct necessary corrections, resolve complex tax matters, approve and sign off on returns within delegated authority, and authorize work for filing and client delivery.
  • Client Relationship & Advisory Delivery : Lead the client-facing delivery of tax results, including recurring client communication, tax-return and tax-planning meetings, and year-round advisory conversations. Explain tax results and implications, identify planning opportunities, develop and communicate practical recommendations, oversee the implementation of approved strategies, and help clients understand the matters requiring attention or action.
  • Engagement Workflow & Team Direction: Assign and coordinate work among Associate Advisors and Client Service Associates, establish deadlines and expectations, remove obstacles, monitor progress, provide timely review feedback and technical guidance, and hold team members accountable for complete, accurate, and usable handoffs.
  • Portfolio Improvement & Escalation : Improve recurring processes within assigned client engagements, coordinate with FP&A, Wealth, Operations, and other Tax team members when client needs intersect, address service or profitability concerns, and escalate significant technical, relationship, capacity, risk, or strategic issues to the Lead Advisor II or Head of Tax.

How Success Will Be Measured:

Success in this role means tax returns and planning deliverables for assigned clients are properly reviewed, approved, signed off, and ready for administrative delivery and filing; clients receive clear, proactive, and well-coordinated tax advice; team members have clear direction and accountability; and the department can depend on you to own the technical quality, delivery, and client experience for your assigned portfolio.

On Day 1, you should already have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in tax preparation, compliance, public accounting, or advisory services within a multi-client environment
  • Strong technical knowledge and final-review experience across individual, corporate, partnership, fiduciary, and nonprofit tax returns, workpapers, planning deliverables, and related compliance requirements
  • Proven ability to resolve complex tax matters, evaluate tax positions and risks, document conclusions, determine when work is ready for filing or client delivery, and escalate matters appropriately
  • Track record of owning multiple client relationships, leading tax-planning conversations, managing service expectations, and translating technical matters into clear, practical recommendations
  • Ability to lead tax engagements from planning through delivery while assigning, coordinating, reviewing, and providing feedback on work completed by tax and administrative team members
  • Strong proficiency in CCH Axcess, Microsoft Excel, tax research platforms, and professional workflow systems, with the ability to adopt new software, automation, AI tools, and standardized processes quickly
  • Strong professional judgment, problem-solving, relationship-management, and communication skills with a calm, dependable, and accountable leadership presence

We train our team to help them succeed, but you will be ahead of the game if you also have:

  • Background advising entrepreneurs, executives, closely held businesses, and high-net-worth individuals
  • Technical depth in advanced tax-planning strategies, multistate taxation, business transactions, entity structuring, succession planning, or other complex individual and business tax matters
  • Track record of coaching and developing junior tax professionals
  • Exposure to coordinating integrated tax, wealth-management, and business-financial-planning advice
  • Familiarity with Canopy, QuickBooks, and other modern tax, accounting, and workflow platforms
  • Demonstrated proficiency using tax research platforms, automation tools, and AI within tax workflows
  • A record of improving client engagement workflows, templates, quality-control practices, or tax processes while identifying and addressing engagement-level scope or profitability concerns
  • Experience working in a company running on EOS® (Entrepreneurial Operating System)

Some of the vast rewards of working here include:

  • Base salary that begins at $100,000 (aligned with the level of knowledge and experience you bring)
  • Eligibility to participate in the DWA Quarterly Bonus Program
  • Unlimited Paid Time Off (suggested minimum of 15 days per year)

  • Hybrid workplace model to support work-life integration
  • Kind and generous Parental Leave policy
  • Employer-paid Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage (with the option to add dependents)
  • Employer contribution to your 401(k) with eligibility on Day 1
  • Employer contribution to your HSA (if applicable)
  • Company-provided Basic Life Insurance (benefit provides 100% of your annual salary up to a maximum of $100,000 and includes Accidental Death & Dismemberment coverage)
  • Free financial planning advice and tax preparation services
  • Tuition reimbursement and professional development stipends (accreditations, designations, industry-related conferences, and CPE opportunities)
