Tax Manager

Job Description

Withum's Tax Services Group provides comprehensive tax services to businesses and individuals, including business, individual, state & local tax, R&D tax credit, and international/private client services. As a Tax Manager based in Houston, TX, you will lead all aspects of tax engagements, supervise and mentor staff, and build and maintain client relationships.

How You'll Spend Your Time

• Review tax returns prepared by staff for accuracy.
• Research and draft memoranda on complex tax matters.
• Identify and implement tax planning opportunities.
• Handle and resolve tax controversies.
• Oversee complete tax research projects for diverse clients.
• Manage multiple engagements concurrently with various teams.
• Conduct constructive performance discussions with team members.
• Serve as a professional development instructor or discussion leader.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
• CPA license, JD, or Master of Science in Taxation required.
• At least 5 years of experience in a public accounting tax department leading engagements and supervising staff.
• Excellent analytical and technical tax skills.
• Exceptional client service and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple engagements in a fast-paced, results-based team environment.
• Strong leadership, training, and mentoring skills.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, project management skills, and strong attention to detail.
• Ability to travel as needed.
