Most tax managers spend the year buried in returns and rarely get near the strategy. This role flips that.
A boutique tax advisory firm in the DFW area is hiring a Tax Manager to own a portfolio of high-income individuals and business owners as their primary point of contact—driving proactive, year-round planning, not just filing season.
What you'll do
- Manage your own portfolio of high-net-worth individual and business clients
- Build and execute year-round tax strategies alongside senior advisors
- Prepare and review complex federal and state returns
- Lead client meetings, quarterly reviews, and monthly strategy sessions
- Identify planning opportunities and explain them in plain language
- Track federal and state law changes and what they mean for your clients
What you'll bring
- Active EA or CPA designation (required)
- 4+ years of tax experience, ideally with high-income individuals or small business owners
- Real depth in S-corporations, partnerships, real estate, and investments
- The ability to make complex strategy sound simple
- Self-directed and at home in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
- Oil & gas or investment structure experience is a plus
Why this role
- $125,000 – $250,000, depending on experience and credentials
- Genuine client ownership and advisory responsibility — not a support seat
- Planning-led work with sophisticated clients, rather than compliance alone
- Room to build real expertise in advanced tax strategy and business structures
- Straightforward two-step interview process
