Tax Manager

Job Description

As a Tax Manager based in Houston, TX, you will lead all aspects of tax engagements, supervise and mentor staff, and build and maintain client relationships.

Responsibilities

• Review individual, trust, partnership, and corporate tax returns prepared by staff for accuracy.
• Research and draft memoranda involving complex tax matters.
• Identify and implement tax planning opportunities.
• Handle and resolve tax controversies.
• Oversee complete tax research projects for a variety of clients and industries.
• Manage multiple engagements concurrently with various teams to meet client deadlines.
• Conduct constructive discussions with team members on evaluations and provide counsel.
• Serve in professional development programs as an instructor or discussion leader.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
• CPA license, JD, or Master of Science in Taxation is required.
• At least 5 years of experience in a public accounting tax department, leading multiple engagements and supervising staff.
• Excellent analytical and technical tax skills.
• Exceptional client service and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain outstanding client relationships.
• Ability to manage multiple engagements and competing projects in a rapidly growing, fast‑paced, results‑based team environment.
• Strong leadership, training, and mentoring skills, with excellent verbal, written, and presentation abilities to represent the firm to client management.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and project management skills, with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to travel as needed.
