About the Role

Tired of the "Big 4" grind but still want to tackle complex, high-impact tax work? We're looking for a Tax Manager who is ready to move beyond just "crunching numbers" and into a role where they truly own the room. In our Cincinnati office, you won't just be another face in a sea of cubicles-you'll be a high-level strategist, a mentor to rising talent, and a key advisor to thriving businesses. We've built a culture that values your technical expertise as much as your life outside of work, offering you the autonomy to lead and the flexibility to thrive.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engagement Leadership : Oversee and manage complex tax compliance engagements for corporations (C-Corp, S-Corp), partnerships, and high-net-worth individuals.
  • Review & Quality Control : Perform high-level review of federal and state income tax returns, ensuring technical accuracy and strict adherence to current tax legislation.
  • Tax Planning & Advisory : Research and implement sophisticated tax planning strategies and projections to optimize client financial outcomes and minimize liability.
  • Team Mentorship : Manage, mentor, and evaluate the performance of senior and staff associates, fostering a culture of continuous technical development.
  • Client Relations : Serve as the primary point of contact for key clients, managing expectations, delivering specialized consulting, and resolving IRS or state tax authority inquiries.

Qualifications

  • Experience : 5-7 years of progressive tax experience specifically within public accounting.
  • Education : Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; Master's in Taxation or MSA is highly preferred.
  • Certification : Active CPA license is required for this role.
  • Skills : Advanced proficiency in professional tax software (e.g., CCH Axcess, GoSystems, or ProSystem fx) and expert-level Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Attributes : Proven leadership capabilities, strong analytical problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage high-level deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

What We Offer

  • Flexibility : A stable hybrid work schedule (3 days in-office) designed for professional autonomy and team collaboration.
  • Total Rewards : Competitive salary between $120k-$150k, significant annual performance bonuses, and a 401(k) with firm matching.
  • Comprehensive Benefits : Premium health, dental, and vision insurance plus generous PTO, summer hours, and paid holidays.
