This will be the first tax hire for a UHNW Family office ($20BIL AUM)
Position Summary:
This role will take ownership of key tax and reporting responsibilities, partnering closely with the CFO to oversee the firm’s tax affairs. Responsibilities include working with external advisors on the preparation and review of federal, state, and local tax filings across multiple entity types, including individuals, partnerships (domestic and international), LLCs, trusts, and corporations.
As part of a lean team, this position also supports broader finance initiatives, including investment performance tracking, cash flow management, real estate transactions, and financial statement preparation. The role operates in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with regular interaction across the CFO, legal, and investment teams. The ideal candidate has experience with multi-jurisdictional tax matters and ultra-high-net-worth clients, and is comfortable taking on a wide range of responsibilities.
The ideal candidate will have experience handling multi-jurisdictional tax issues and advising UHNW clients. This role works closely with legal and investment teams to develop integrated tax strategies that safeguard and grow wealth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Partner with external tax advisors to plan, prepare, and review federal and state tax filings, extensions, and quarterly estimates across individuals, partnerships, corporations, trusts, and other entities.
- Support tax planning and reporting for complex domestic and international structures, including information gathering, analysis, and review of related filings.
- Build tax forecasting models and present insights to senior leadership, including the SVP of Finance and CFO.
- Maintain internal tax documentation, assess tax exposures, and support risk mitigation strategies.
- Assist with estate planning, charitable giving, and tax-related components of financial statements, budgets, and forecasts.
- Ensure compliance with foreign reporting requirements, including FBARs.
- Partner cross-functionally with operations and leadership on finance initiatives, including cash flow management, debt financing, and restructuring.
- Support investment oversight by tracking performance and assisting with financial, tax, and business analysis across venture and other investments.
Qualifications:
- B.A. or B.S. in Accounting required (Master’s in Accounting or Tax and/or CPA preferred).
- 7+ years of experience in tax or accounting with a strong tax focus.
- Experience in venture capital and/or working with high-net-worth individuals is a strong plus.
- Must be able to work onsite 4 days a week in West Hollywood.
