Tax Controversy Associate AttorneyDirect Counsel is seeking a Tax Controversy Associate Attorney to join a leading global law firm in San Francisco, Palo Alto, Washington, DC, or New York.This role is ideal for an associate attorney with 3 - 5 years of experience handling complex tax disputes and litigation matters involving multinational entities, cross-border transactions, partnerships, family offices, and high-net-worth individuals.Key Responsibilities:Conduct legal research and analysis related to tax controversy and litigation mattersDraft briefs, motions, correspondence, and other legal documentsAssist with complex tax disputes from inception through resolution, including trials, negotiations, and settlementsCollaborate with attorneys, accounting professionals, and client tax/legal teamsParticipate in hearings, depositions, and negotiationsMaintain compliance with evolving tax laws, regulations, and precedentsQualifications:3–5 years of tax controversy experience at a law firm, large accounting firm, or government agency (e.g., IRS Chief Counsel, DOJ, Tax Court)JD from an accredited law school and active bar admission in the jurisdiction of practiceStrong research, writing, and analytical skillsExperience interacting with clients and taxing authorities preferredBackground in economics or accounting is helpful but not requiredWork Environment: Hybrid schedule with regular in-office presence and flexibility for remote work.Compensation: $260,000 – $365,000 annually, depending on geographic location, experience, and qualifications.Benefits: Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurance, and a 401(k) retirement plan.If you would like to learn more about this opportunity, please contact Direct Counsel for a confidential discussion.
