Company DescriptionFortune 500 CompanyJob DescriptionResponsibilities Responsible for the accurate and timely filing of State and Local Gross Receipts Tax, State & Local Excise Tax, NYC Commercial Rent Tax and PUC Levy Returns for Regulated and Non-Regulated Companies. Analyze financial data from Accounts Receivable (Billing Feeds), Revenue Accounting (Gross Receipts) and Corporate Accounting (Journal Entries) to utilize in the tax return preparation. Review returns to ensure that they are accurately and timely filed in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, judicial decisions, and rulings issued. Investigate and comply with new return requirements, EDI and EFT obligations issued by state and local taxing authorities.
Formulate annual drivers to mitigate our Gross Receipts Tax budget. Prepare Journal Entries for the Gross Receipts Tax Accruals. Responsible for reconciling all Gross Receipts Tax liability accounts. Coordinate and resolve any payment issues with Processing, Accounts Payable and Treasury groups.
Assist Audit, Research, Tax Technology and other departments as necessary. Perform special projects, as required, assigned by Manager and/or Director. These may require detailed analysis and completion in a short time frame. Answer all internal and external correspondence, such as requests for data and assessments, on a timely basis thereby minimizing the possibility of additional penalties and/or assessments.QualificationsQualifications Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, related field or equivalent experience required State and local tax compliance with an emphasis in state tax laws and regulations Must have excellent communication skills both oral and written Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel and a working knowledge of Microsoft AccessDesired Skills & ExperienceCPA or Masters degree in taxation Experience with large automated systems (i.e.
billing, general ledger, and a/p) Familiarity with automated tax systems.
