Seeking a detail-oriented Senior Accountant - Multi-State Payroll & Tax Compliance Specialist for a fully remote, one-year contract position, responsible for managing multi-state payroll tax registrations, resolving historical compliance issues, and developing processes for ongoing tax filings. Key responsibilities Manage multi-state payroll tax registrations and compliance, including state withholding and unemployment taxes Research and resolve historical tax issues, including delinquent filings and discrepancies with state agencies Develop and maintain a centralized compliance calendar and documentation for ongoing state registrations and filings Required qualifications Strong experience with multi-state payroll and payroll taxes Knowledge of state withholding, SUTA, and Paid Family & Medical Leave programs Experience with sales and use tax, including registrations and reconciliations Proficiency in handling unemployment claims and state tax notices Familiarity with accounting systems and Excel for reconciliations and historical cleanup
