Systems Engineer IIA lead defense contractor is continuing growth and is seeking a Systems Engineer II to support the development, integration, and testing of advanced unmanned aircraft systems. This role will be required to be onsite in Petaluma, CA working full time at their manufacturing site. This person will be required for minimal travel to their in field test sites in Oregon and California. He/She will be apart of a 30-person engineering organization supporting both R&D and production programs in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
This is an excellent opportunity for engineers who enjoy working directly with aircraft systems, sensors, communications hardware, and flight testing rather than purely theoretical or architecture-focused engineering. Engineers will have visibility across the full product lifecycle and work closely with Software, Electrical, Mechanical, and Controls Engineering teams. This role will be paying between $85-125k depending on years of experience.Key ResponsibilitiesIntegrate new hardware, sensors, RF communications systems, GPS antennas, and electronic components into unmanned aircraft platforms. Support system integration, verification, validation, and troubleshooting activities.
Develop and execute system, ground, and flight test plans. Instrument aircraft and test assets to collect and analyze performance data. Support remote and on-site testing activities at manufacturing and field test locations. Develop, manage, and verify system requirements using requirements management tools.
Participate in requirements reviews, design reviews, and technical evaluations. Document test procedures, results, and engineering findings. Support the transition of new technologies and prototypes into production.
