Responsibilities

  • Design and implement Windows and Linux servers and workstations to meet changing customer needs.
  • Implement enterprise-level services with an emphasis on database operations and data handling across Windows/Linux/VMWare systems, including:
    • Domain Services
    • SYSLOG
    • DHCP
    • AAA Services
    • WEF
    • SNMP
    • NTP
    • Automated patching
    • SIEM Services
    • 802.1x & 802.1x MAB
    • Inter‑relation of DNS services across disparate authoritative zones
    • VMware ESXi, vCenter, Horizon services – provisioning, system redundancy, performance, etc.
    • Automates system data processing per data management policies (e.g., archival/removal via triggered and/or scheduled events)
  • Periodically generate scripts (bash, sh, CMD, Python, PowerShell, etc.) to support specific use cases.
  • Identify and resolve system faults, such as:
    • Domain controller replication faults
    • SQL database access faults and indexing faults
    • WSUS processing faults
    • NPS VSA‑to‑Device faults
    • NPS AAA lookup, policy mapping, and template faults
    • init.d/systemd processing faults
  • Harden systems appropriately, balancing availability, integrity, and confidentiality needs.
  • Resolve IAVA/STIG findings, providing proper documentation and justification to A&A personnel.
  • Conduct site surveys to determine feasibility of equipment installations (e.g., telecommunications, electrical, temperature/humidity, cleanliness, space/weight, maintainability, logistical support).
  • Monitor overall system health and advise on potential upgrades or reconfigurations.
  • Provide on‑site technical and operational support for installation and operation of telecommunications equipment.
  • Periodically review SIEM alerts related to overall system status.
  • Perform troubleshooting of end‑user problems and respond to user requests.
  • Mentor other IT personnel as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience (5/7 years).
  • Must meet DoD 8570 IAT II requirements.
  • Proven shell‑scripting experience.
  • Expert understanding of Windows and/or Linux server technologies.
  • Competency with virtualization technologies.
  • Expert understanding of networking protocols.

Special Requirements / Security Clearance

  • Active Secret Clearance.
