As a SME Systems Engineer, a typical day will include the following duties/skills:Document "as-is" architectures and develop detailed "to-be" designsLead cloud and on prem implementations, migrations, upgrades, and modernization initiativesEnsure system availability, scalability, performance, security, and complianceIntegrate systems and platforms with DevOps/DevSecOps pipelinesTroubleshoot complex, cross-domain issuesCollaborate with infrastructure, platform, software, DevOps, and data teamsProduce technical documentation, diagrams, standards, and runbooksServe as an escalation point and technical authorityCommunicate effectively with executives and cross organizational partnersDesired technical skills include:Enterprise networking, firewalls, load balancers, DNSSAN/NAS/Object storageKubernetes, DockerLinux (RHEL/CentOS) administration, hardening, automationPKI and identity managementCloud platforms: AWS, Azure, or GCPHybrid and on prem integration, cloud networking/security/cost optimizationRelational & NoSQL databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, MongoDB, Cassandra, DynamoDB, Redis)APIs, web services, middleware, SDLC fundamentalsEvent messaging (SQS, SNS, RabbitMQ)IaC, automation, and scripting (Terraform, Ansible, Python, Bash, PowerShell, CloudFormation)CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Actions, ArgoCD)Security best practices and system hardeningMonitoring/observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, ELK, CloudWatch)Ability to produce "as-is" and "to-be" architectures plus implementation/migration plansZero Trust architecturesAI/ML or data platform exposureBig data platforms (Hadoop, Databricks, Snowflake, BigQuery)Experience supporting mission-critical systemsITIL or agile delivery experienceCloud, security, or architecture certifications (AWS SA/DevOps, Azure Admin, CKA/CKAD, ITIL)The ideal candidate:Is a hands-on technical SME with broad full-stack systems expertiseIs a strong systems thinker who moves easily between architecture strategy and practical implementationIs an effective communicator and collaborator across technical and nontechnical teamsHas proven ability to design, build, and own complex systems in productionA candidate must be a US Citizen and requires an active/current TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance.Equal Opportunity Employer / Individuals with Disabilities / Protected VeteransQualificationsEducationBachelor of Science or better in Engineering or related field.Experience15 years: Demonstrated related work experience.Equal Opportunity Employer This employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws.
