The UAV industry is a fast-paced and constantly evolving market in which Lumenier is a key player.

The Systems Engineer is responsible for developing and integrating unmanned aerial vehicles ("UAV") with software solutions. This position requires a broad set of skills across engineering disciplines, knowledge of communication protocols and experience with power systems.

To perform at a high level, the Systems Engineer ideal candidate would have the following capabilities and skills:

  • Strong understanding of system integration across electrical, mechanical, and software domains
  • Hands-on experience building, integrating, and testing multirotor or FPV drone systems
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams (EE, ME, and software) in a product development environment
  • Familiarity with embedded systems and hardware/software integration
  • Experience with communication protocols such as SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, and MAVLink
  • Understanding of power systems, grounding, EMI/EMC considerations, and system-level interactions
  • Experience integrating third-party hardware and software systems (sensors, radios, payloads, SDKs, APIs)
  • Ability to develop and execute system-level test plans (bench and flight testing)
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware, firmware, and system interactions
  • Experience analyzing logs and telemetry for system performance and debugging
  • Ability to support development from prototype through validation and iteration
  • Familiarity with flight control stacks (e.g., PX4, ArduPilot, Betaflight, INAV)
  • Experience with system configuration, tuning, and integration within these ecosystems
  • Ability to interface systems with embedded software environments (Linux-based systems, RTOS, or companion computers)
  • Experience using tools such as Git for version control and working with technical documentation

The ideal candidate would also have experience with the following ("nice to have"):

  • Experience with drone, robotics, or aerospace systems
  • Familiarity with mechanical integration constraints (mounting, vibration, thermal considerations)
  • Experience with RF systems (video transmission, antennas, telemetry)
  • Experience integrating companion computers or onboard compute (e.g., NVIDIA Jetson, Raspberry Pi)
  • Basic scripting or programming (Python, C/C++)
  • Experience supporting prototype builds through production or field deployment
