Systems Engineer
This position is responsible for the System Development Life Cycle (Planning, Analysis, Design, Implementation, Test, Maintenance) of complex aircraft simulators. The role involves contributing to the end-to-end design, development, integration, and validation of advanced aircraft simulation systems. This person will assist in picking up an ongoing design for a full-motion simulator for the VL60 aircraft, which will be deployed internationally.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a team of software and systems engineers in design and development activities.
- Develop and manage system requirements, ensuring traceability from concept through verification.
- Design and integrate real-time simulation models (aerodynamics, flight controls, propulsion, and aircraft systems).
- Develop and maintain the system architecture using applications like CAMEO or similar.
- Define the system and its integration, including interfaces with control systems models or data.
- Conduct requirements analysis to elicit, document, and manage system requirements.
- Identify and assess potential risks associated with development and integration, and propose mitigation strategies.
- Participate in test planning and execution to verify and validate the integrated simulation system.
- Support installation efforts, which will require international travel.
Required Qualifications
Education: A Bachelor's degree or higher in an Engineering field (e.g., Systems, Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace) or a relevant technical field is required.
Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in systems engineering, with a background in simulation, preferably in avionics or flight simulation. Experience in the DoD space is also beneficial. The role requires design experience.
Technical Skills
- Experience with Windows is preferred; a mix of Windows and Linux is also acceptable.
- Scripting experience with C or C++.
- Proficiency with CAMEO (or similar) and SysML.
- Experience with system architecture development and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
- Familiarity with network hardware/software, virtualization infrastructure (VMware suite), and Cisco Switch configuration.
- Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and Active Directory administration.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with aircraft, avionics, or aerospace control systems.
- Experience with scripting languages such as Python.
- Experience with Extended Reality (VR/AR/MR) development and integration.
- Familiarity with relevant quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001).
- Virtualization, Cisco, or Microsoft (MCSE/MCSA) certifications.
Work Environment
This position requires the ability to travel internationally and to obtain a U.S. passport within 90 days of hiring. The role is fully on-site in Orlando, FL. Candidates must be a U.S. person to work at this facility.
