As we continue to grow across our four U.S. locations, we are looking for an Infrastructure Support professional to join our Global Infrastructure team. In this role, you will provide hands‑on, on‑site IT infrastructure support while collaborating with colleagues worldwide to deliver secure, reliable, and standardised infrastructure services across Moderna's global footprint. You will play a key role in ensuring the availability, performance, and security of local infrastructure while contributing to global technology initiatives and operational excellence. Join an IT team that enables biotech innovation. We are seeking a Systems Engineer with experience in compute, storage, virtualization, and infrastructure automation. This role focuses on building resilient, scalable, and high‑performing infrastructure across hybrid on‑premises and cloud environments.

Here’s What You’ll Do

  • Compute & Virtualisation Infrastructure – Manage virtualization platforms (VMware, Red Hat, Nutanix). Manage Cisco UCS and Dell server platforms. Manage and enhance enterprise container platforms, such as Red Hat OpenShift, enabling containerised workloads, platform automation, monitoring and lifecycle management while ensuring security, scalability and performance. Provision, monitor and maintain virtual machines across on‑prem and cloud environments. Apply patches and security updates; ensure platform reliability and performance. Automate patching and system updates using configuration management tools such as Ansible. Collaborate with senior engineers and application teams.
  • Monitoring & Configuration Management – Operate monitoring and automation tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Elastic Stack, Aria Operations, SaltStack, Ansible). Implement automated configuration and deployment using agent‑based or agentless tools.
  • Storage & Backup Administration – Administer enterprise storage platforms (Pure Storage, NetApp, Dell EMC, or similar). Perform capacity planning, performance tuning and routine storage management. Support hybrid backup strategies using tools like Veeam, Comm... (see full specification).
  • Linux & Automation – Perform patching and configuration on Linux‑based systems. Automate updates and compliance tasks using Ansible, SaltStack or equivalent. Development of automation scripts using Python, PowerShell, YAML or JSON.
  • Hybrid Cloud Integration – Support integration with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure or GCP). Manage cloud resources via portals and CLI tools.
  • Incident Response & Operational Support – Serve as an escalation point for infrastructure incidents. Troubleshoot and resolve issues effectively. Document SOPs, operational runbooks and recovery procedures. Participate in a global 24/7 on‑call rotation.

Basic Qualifications

  • 4–6 years of experience in systems engineering focused on compute, virtualization and storage.
  • Proficiency with virtualization platforms and automation tools.
  • Experience in Linux patching and configuration.
  • Familiarity with backup, recovery and monitoring systems.
  • Familiarity with public cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure or GCP).
  • Strong scripting and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in regulated environments (GxP) or willingness to learn compliance frameworks.
  • Deep knowledge of storage architectures, SAN zoning and performance optimisation.
  • Industry certifications (e.g. virtualization, cloud, backup, storage solutions).
  • Interest in or ability to grow into AI infrastructure support (SQL, APIs).

The salary range for this role is $109,200.00 – $174,600.00. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An individual’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, performance and business or organisational needs. The successful candidate may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, other incentive compensation or equity award, subject to company plan eligibility criteria and individual performance.
