We provide Subject Matter Experts (SME) free of Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI) focused on independent analysis and mission support services within the disciplines of Engineering, Counter Terrorism Operations, Management, Information Technology, Signals Analysis, Administration, Cyber Security and Linguistics.FTS has an opportunity for a Systems Engineer – MBSE in Chantilly, VA.The Systems Engineer – MBSE will provide Systems Engineering and Technical Advisory (SETA) services to assist the government in implementing and executing systems engineering processes to integrate mission systems into the operational baseline at a customer facility.ResponsibilitiesAdvise and assist the government with the planning, engineering, integration, and O&M activities of mission systemsAnalyze and document site system architecture and impacts associated with system updates/deliveriesCollaborate with Headquarters Directorates, site organizations, and mission partners to ensure understanding of project requirements and risks (cost, schedule, technical)Document, develop and deliver analysis, recommendations, plans, reports/briefings to the GovernmentDevelop and maintain Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) models of mission systems, integrating MBSE tools into a digital thread to connect siloed information systemsLeverage digital twin technologies and modeling and simulation tools to support early-stage risk reduction, operational rehearsal, and system performance verificationSupport the development and integration of automated test solutions and continuous improvement in software design and architectureRequired Skills/QualificationsTS/SCI with polygraphBS STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) in engineering discipline9+ years of relevant experienceKnowledge of customer's space and ground domain mission and technical capabilitiesSystems engineering background; understanding of systems development life cycle from concept, requirements, engineering design, integration and test, deployment, maintenance, through decommissioningExperience in requirements definition, system architectures, systems analysis and design, interface and data architectures, validation, and verificationPolished communicator and proven collaborator; demonstrated ability to coordinate across all levels of government to ensure contracts effectively deliver required services and capabilitiesSelf-starter, proactively addresses customer requirements with no supervision; expert at defining solutions for broad, abstract topicsFamiliar with model-based systems engineering and digital engineering concepts and tools; Agile/DevSecOps development methodology, cloud technologiesDesired Skills/QualificationsExperience in initiating, planning, executing, monitoring, and controlling DoD or Intelligence Community projects or ProgramsExperience in architecture management, baseline audit, and verificationFamiliar with JIRA, ConfluenceProficiency in using modeling tools and software (e.g.
Sparx Enterprise Architect, or Capella)Familiarity with modeling languages such as SysML or UAFMLExperience with cloud-based technologies and automation to optimize platform performance and reliabilityExpected Salary Range: $135,000 - $152,000 per year. Placement within the range is determined by qualifications, job-related criteria, experience, internal equity and market considerations.
