Thea Energy Systems EngineerThea Energy is leveraging recent breakthroughs in stellarator physics and engineering to create a faster and simpler approach to commercializing fusion energy. The company is reinventing the stellarator using computer-controlled arrays of planar coils thereby replacing the intricate, complex modular magnets required in all other stellarator architectures. Thea Energy is on a mission to create a limitless source of zero emission energy for a sustainable future.Thea Energy is seeking for an experienced, organized, and motivated systems engineer.

This position will work on an interdisciplinary team to integrate numerous first-of-a-kind technologies while developing scalable processes and procedures. The Systems Engineer will be responsible for managing requirements, integration, and interfaces for one of the most consequential and cutting-edge technologies of our generation - fusion energy.The Thea Energy team is comprised of self-motivated, innovative, and collaborative individuals with an excitement for solving complex problems. This is a challenging position that requires a high degree of autonomy, and the ideal candidate must be able to move quickly.

A proven track record of leading systems engineering, excellent communication skills, and a passion for new technologies and innovation is required.Key Responsibility Areas:Develop system and interfacing requirements, protocols, and proceduresWork closely with engineering and physics teams designing various systems to provide engineering coordination and supportEnsure the efficient and systematic conversion of functional requirements into a scalable system architecture and execution strategyAssist in the management of technical, schedule, cost, and performance analysis for various development programsDevelop and enact protocols to inform clear and efficient decision making processesManage updates and changes to systems and interfaces, and monitor impacts to program schedule, cost, and performanceManage system configuration controlManage the product breakdown structureCoordinate with suppliers, vendors, and internal manufacturing engineering teamsCoordinate design reviews and program management functionsInstitute the processes for, and help run HAZOPS and FMECA programsImplement an effective design integration programDevelop and manage effective processes for making and tracking key decisionsDevelop and implement verification and validation processesImplement system design lifecycle management processesIdeal Experience & Skillsets:Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering field5+ years of experience in systems engineeringProven experience integrating large industrial and/or first-of-a-kind R&D projects (e.g. power plants, manufacturing facilities, particle accelerators, etc.)Experience across mechanical, electrical, and fluid systemsExperience with cryogenic, heating, fluid, vacuum, power electronics, and control systems is preferred but not mandatoryFamiliarity with the processes needed to build, test, troubleshoot, and scale complex mechanical and electrical systemsStrong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skillsAbility to innovate, execute, and flourish in a fast-paced environmentExceptional work ethicPrioritization of safety above all elseAbility to wear many different hatsTeam player who is excited to help othersAbility to occasionally lift objects up to 50 lbs.Company Benefits:Salary range $85,000-$150,000Comprehensive health benefits (e.g. medical/dental/vision)Employee equity stock options20 days PTOIt's not necessary to meet all of the skillsets outlined above.
