Systems Engineer IV – Blue Coat/ProxyPlanIT Group is seeking a Systems Engineer IV – Blue Coat/Proxy to support our Federal customer in the Washington, DC area. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, securing, and maintaining proxy solutions to manage network traffic efficiently. They will ensure proper monitoring and optimization in maintaining a secure, efficient, and reliable network infrastructure through their expertise in proxy server technologies and network security practices.Roles & Responsibilities:Design and Implementation: Designing and implementing proxy solutions to route and manage network traffic effectively.Security Measures: Implementing security measures on proxy servers to protect against cyber threats, monitoring network traffic for suspicious activities.Performance Optimization: Optimizing proxy server performance through fine-tuning configurations, troubleshooting network issues, and improving performance.Network Monitoring: Monitoring network traffic, proxy server logs, and system performance to ensure stability and reliability.Compliance and Documentation: Ensuring proxy server configurations adhere to security standards, maintaining documentation, and records.Collaborative Support: Collaborating with team members, providing technical support to end-users, and collaborating on network infrastructure needs.Continuous Improvement: Staying updated on proxy server technologies, recommending enhancements, and implementing improvements.Incident Response: Responding to proxy server incidents, vulnerabilities, and security breaches in a timely and effective manner.Key Responsibilities:Leads assessment, design and technical implementation activities related to the Bluecoat product platformsDocuments solution requirements given business and technical objectivesDesigns and implements pilot and production architecture given success criteriaDefines, creates, and maintains proxy policiesExecutes SSL Interception with an integrated internal PKI environmentUnderstands various proxy authentication methods with relation to a domain environmentExecutes production deployment criteria to complete a jobLeads root cause analysis and troubleshooting effort for production deploymentFunctions as a liaison between the client and Symantec SupportCompetent in reporting issues, anomalies and problems through proper channels (i.e., account management, technical support)Provides incident status reports as requiredAchieves Key Performance IndicatorsPerforms other duties relevant to deployment and security operations assignedWorks on high-visibility, or mission critical aspects of a given program, and performs all functional duties independently.Oversees the efforts of direct reporting resources and/or be responsible for the efforts of all staff assigned to a specific job.Experience with other various IT technologies:SNMPSyslogPKIHSMVPNRequired Skills:HTTP proxy configuration, integration, and administration expertise. Preferred Broadcom BluecoatStrong understanding of TCP/IP, UDP/IP, DNS, DHCP, HTTP/s and HTTP proxy.Understanding of network, protocol and application traffic flowsProficient on the architecture, design and deployment of these Symantec BlueCoat Product solutions:Advance Secure Gateway (ASG/SG) ProxiesManagement CenterReporterWeb Security ServicesDesired Skills:Experience with APIs, scripting, and Splunk data flows. Preferred Perl, python and JavaScript.Strong understanding of HTTP proxy including circuit gateways (generic proxies)Proficient with application layer protocols – HTTP, SSH, SSL, etc.Experience: 7+ years of BlueCoat/Proxy experience in supporting large networks.
Education: A minimum of thirteen (13) to twenty (20) years' relevant experience. A degree from an accredited College/University in the applicable field of services is preferred. Four additional years of relevant experience in lieu of a college degree is required. If the individual's degree is not in the applicable field then four additional years of related experience is required.Additional Provisions:Must be able to obtain a Public Trust ClearancePass both a client mandated clearance process to include drug screening, criminal history check and credit check.All candidates must be a US Citizen or US Permanent Resident only.Candidate must have lived in the United States for the past 5 years.Cannot have more than 6 months travel outside the United States within the last five years.
