Systems Analyst 3We are seeking a Systems Analyst 3 to join our team in Reno, Nevada. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting and maintaining Mainframe, Windows, or UNIX systems and operating environments. You will conduct system analysis, develop specifications, and implement technical solutions while leveraging modern technologies to automate processes.
The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise, problem-solving capabilities, and the ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks in a fast-paced utility environment.Key ResponsibilitiesSystem Operations & Support (25–50%)Provide operational support for Mainframe, Windows, or UNIX computing environments.Perform hardware installations, upgrades, system and application software maintenance.Troubleshoot and resolve complex system and application issues.Administer backup and recovery processes and maintain user and peripheral device configurations.Research & Technical Recommendations (25–40%)Research new network software and hardware technologies.Provide informed technical recommendations for information systems and network operations.Implement system modifications to enhance capacity and performance.Document and report on machine operations, production output, and system maintenance.Performance & Security Monitoring (10–20%)Use performance and systems management software to analyze and improve system utilization.Interface with internal and external stakeholders during outages or degraded system performance.Ensure security policies and procedures are enforced to protect information systems assets.Evaluate security requirements and implement user-specific access controls.Training, Documentation & Project Support (5–10%)Mentor and provide guidance to junior or less-experienced technicians.Create and maintain documentation for IT processes and procedures.Support application and system operations by developing utility programs.Provide technical input for planning and executing IT projects.Additional Duties (0–5%)Carry out additional tasks and responsibilities as required or assigned by management.QualificationsEducation:Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related technical field. (Note: Four years of additional related, progressive work experience may substitute for a degree.)Experience:Minimum of 5 years of related experience supporting and analyzing Mainframe, Windows, or UNIX operating systems.At least 2 additional years of direct, related technical experience beyond education.Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Proven ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously.
