Systems Administrator IILocation: Atlanta, GA Contract- 5 MonthsClient- Georgia PowerPosition OverviewThe Systems Administrator II is responsible for administering, supporting, and optimizing network detection and response (NDR) sensors and network packet capture infrastructure. This role ensures the availability, integrity, and sustainability of critical security systems while collaborating with cross-functional teams to maintain operational excellence.This position requires strong Linux administration skills, cybersecurity knowledge, automation capabilities, and the ability to troubleshoot complex security infrastructure issues independently.Key ResponsibilitiesSecurity Infrastructure AdministrationAdminister, support, and optimize Network Detection and Response (NDR) sensorsMaintain network packet capture infrastructureEngineer and maintain resilient security infrastructure for sustainability and reliabilityExecute hardware lifecycle activities including upgrades, replacements, and vendor-recommended updatesMonitoring & Operational SupportPerform daily system monitoring, log reviews, and health checksEnsure system availability, performance, and data integrityTroubleshoot new and unfamiliar operational issues independentlyCollaboration & Configuration ManagementWork closely with detection engineering and network infrastructure teamsEnsure configurations meet business requirements and data accuracy standardsSupport security research, assessments, presentations, and industry collaboration effortsAutomation & Process ImprovementDevelop automation, processes, and procedures to improve operational efficiencySupport solution optimization initiativesRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in a related field OR 3+ years of experience in system administration and operational supportProduction experience supporting enterprise applications, systems, and server hardwareWorking knowledge of computer networking concepts including:FirewallsIDS/IPSNetFlowSystem loggingExperience with:PythonLinux CLIUnix shell scriptingREST APIsAbility to analyze complex security problems and design effective solutionsDemonstrated ability to learn new technologies quickly and share knowledgeValid state driver's licensePreferred QualificationsExperience supporting Zeek-based Network Detection and Response (NDR) platformsExperience with network packet broker or packet aggregation hardwareStrong understanding of current and emerging cybersecurity technologiesExperience with network administration and Cisco CLI commandsFamiliarity with information security frameworks and compliance standardsRelevant cybersecurity certifications
