Leveraging rigorous engineering principles, the team integrates safety into every phase of the system lifecycle, enhancing reliability and safeguarding our warfighters.We are currently hiring for System Safety Engineer II. This is an onsite role and can be located in Woburn, Tewksbury, Marlborough, Andover or Portsmouth RI.What You Will Do:Execute the safety strategy for the program to meet all its milestones with system safety/HSI features integrated into the product in compliance with contract and awarded fundingSupport the program schedule and integrated system safety tasks and activities into program Integrated Master Schedule (IMS)Engage the Lead System Safety Engineer and Portfolio Engineering Lead for guidance on technical execution, artifact review, attending customer reviews, etc.Support multi-IPT program meetings to ensure that system safety items are considered and to understand current program-wide issuesEnsure program leadership understands system safety requirements, hazards, and planned mitigationsMeet internal and external commitments (deliveries)Own technical solutions and collaborate across IPTs to realize the solution that makes the overall product development and test successfulQualifications You Must Have:Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experienceExperience with risk assessment conceptsExperience with creating technical reports, technical writing and/or creating presentationsQualifications We Prefer:Active/transferable DoD security clearanceExperience with test equipment & test equipment safety, in a laboratory settingExperience performing MIL-STD-882 System Safety Program tasks and analyses, involving management (task series 100), analysis (task series 200), evaluation (task series 300), and verification (task series 400)Experience reviewing software code and requirements for safety considerationsExperience interfacing with other engineering functions: Systems Engineering, Software or Firmware Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Hardware EngineeringWhat We Offer:Our values drive our actions, behaviors, and performance with a vision for a safer, more connected world. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance. This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
